Support the Sussex Symphony Orchestra

Keep local classical music alive and become a Friend, donor, or corporate supporter

Your support helps us share uplifting, high-quality orchestral music with communities across Sussex. Whether you give once, yearly, or as a corporate partner, you become part of the SSO family that makes our concerts possible.

Who can be a Friend of Sussex Symphony Orchestra?

Any person or organisation who wishes to show their support of the Sussex Symphony Orchestra can become a Friend. Many of our Friends have supported us over many years, and their continuing contribution is particularly appreciated.

Why support us?

Running an orchestra is an expensive business. Sussex Symphony Orchestra is self-funding through membership donations, concert income and support from the Friends. We do not receive any support from local authorities. It is not possible to cover our costs with ticket sales alone. Support from the Friends is therefore vital in enabling us to perform classical music to a high standard. Your donations enable us to make high-quality orchestral playing available to everyone, regardless of financial circumstances, and allow us to continue bringing inspiring concerts to the local community.

Your support enables us to

  • keep rehearsals and performances accessible for players from all backgrounds

  • bring ambitious, engaging concerts to audiences across Sussex

  • work with guest players and conductors who help raise our musical standard

  • offer performances that are welcoming, affordable, and open to the whole community

Benefits

A SSO Friend receives the following benefits:

  • Newsletters and information updates from the Orchestra including early notification of concert dates and programmes,  rehearsal insights, photos, player stories

  • The option of being named in concert programmes as a Friend

  • A small discount on a single ticket for each concert when purchased via our Friends Scheme administrator - Rebekah.
